‘Candid Conversations with Candidates’

Welcome to “Candid Conversations with Candidates” presented by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber in partnership with LAKES Media Collaborative and sponsored by Crow Wing Power. By following the links on this page, you will learn more about county, city, and school board candidates running for elected office in the Brainerd Lakes Area. You can discover how candidates responded to questions posed to them, watch a 3-minute YouTube interview, and find out when full 10-minute interviews will air on your local cable access channel. You also will find resources to help answer your questions about when and where to vote, how to vote by absentee ballot, and how to register to vote.

Candidates for county races affecting voters in southern Cass County and all of Crow Wing County were invited to participate in the broadcast and online components of this campaign as were candidates for city offices in Baxter, Breezy Point, Brainerd, Crosby, Crosslake, Nisswa, and Pequot Lakes. Candidates for city offices in Deerwood, East Gull Lake, Emily, Fifty Lakes, Ironton, Jenkins, Pillager, and Lake Shore, as well as the candidates for Crosby-Ironton and Pequot Lakes school boards were asked to participate in the online Voters Guide only.

Not all candidates chose to participate in this project or decided to only participate in certain segments of this informational campaign. As part of the online Voters Guide, candidates were asked to limit their responses to 50 words. The responses were edited to length only and not for content or accuracy. There was no cost for candidates to participate.
